ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzel

Ubuntu 12.10 'Quantal Quetzal' has been released, and with it a wide range of new features and tweaks have been made to the popular Linux distribution.12.10 includes a number of changes, not least of which is a single distribution that everyone downloads regardless of their architecture. At 800MB in size it should be quick to download for most of us and easily fits on any old USB stick. The web integration can be further extended by using using the new online account features, which allows you to hook in your Google,Facebook,Flickr and other online services from a single window.
The updated unity Dash takes advantages of Firefox to let you treat online services just like desktop apps.so you can dock a service such as G mail,Facebook just like an app and have it active in its own window. The line up of default apps include Firefox 16.01,Thunderbird 16.01,libreoffice 3.6.2,Totem,shotwell,Rythmbox,and the Nautilus 3.4 file manager.Ubuntu 12.10 sees an update to Linux kernel 3.5.4 and the GNOME 3.6 applications and libraries sit underneath the unity desktop.Dual booting with windows 8 and the UEFI secure boot restrictions has been resolved using a signed GRUB 2 boot loader.Unity has also changed.Unity 2D is no longer present and unity 3D is the standard going forward.
